musica: Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Dr. Bones
Nothing beats a beer after a long day of school. BTW, this is probably one of the best albums of the 90's.
So today, I had three class: Heroic Tales of the Mediterranean, Textiles 1, and The Artist in the 20th-21st Centuries.
Hero Tales is going to be fucking hard. We have nine assigned books for the semester, and the teacher is reminiscent of Bramfitt (Mo's note: my AP Language teacher from highschool that kicked my ass so much, he made me into a terrific writer). I've never been more ready for a class like this, though. To be honest, the writing level at SFSU is really disappointing. It's even worse in the Art History department (how is that fucking possible!? You're an art historian, of course you're going to be writing about art, criticisms and theory!). All I've heard about this teacher is that she will take your soul on a joy ride for the semester, but you will come out a better writer. On top of all that, I've read three of the nine texts last semester for Ancient Epic Tails (Gilgamesh, The Iliad, & The Aeneid). Seriously...after a year of studying the Iliad, I will have a lot of it memorized. @_@;
Textiles seems like a really intensive class. We'll be doing dyeing, crocheting, screen printing and all sorts of cool things. I'm really excited; I haven't taken an art class like this (meaning like, you do actual art...not just study it) in about three years. We have to put a lot of non-class time into the class, which may conflict with my plans to help Chadwick do research or intern at Viz.
The Artist in the 20th-21st Centuries is a full class...70 students are in the "art history" room (don't be fooled, it only fits about 50 comfortably). The teacher is fucking awesome, though. She IS the scholar who started the research on Caribbean Art, and is one of Chadwick's contemporary historian buddies. Blah blah, it's going to be a lot of work. She said we must spend two hours minimum on readings a week in order to get a C in the class. :P
This doesn't include the paper writing class Art History Methods that I have tomorrow with Doctor Mann. So...not sure if I'll have time for the internship or the research. :( I have my cover page and resume all ready for Viz, too. -_-;
But hey! SFSU is having an Fulbright information session coming up soon!! As in, the Fulbright grant award from the government given to scholars (aka graduated folks) seeking to study a creative project abroad. I think I'll go to the one of the sessions in September...sounds awesome, ne?
Okay okay, time for guitar. Toodles folks. :)

Dear fucking Jesus on a stick. It feels so good to be home!
I had my last day at Lucky Brand yesterday which was nice. I will miss the place and most of my co-workers but...I just need to do something else for a while. I think I'm totally burnt out on retail, clothes and fucking customer suck.
Now that I'm back in SF though, it feels like there's so much to do. My room's a fucking mess, that's a starter...and now that I'm basically here by myself all the time, I want to start changing things a little. For example, I want to hang something in the bathroom, get new towels & ze bathmat. It's so dead in there, it's kinda sad to pee in such a lonely, bleak room.
The living room is also something I'd like to fix up a bit. It's a bit dead right now.
Heather and I are still supposed to be switching rooms but don't know exactly when that will happen. I want to get a new bed, too. @_@
I start school in two days and I think I have to run around tomorrow like a bat out of hell to stock up on groceries, assorted goods from Target, etc.
I can hear the Outside Lands festival from my house. :O
And oh! I've starting playing FF12! I love it so far. XD

More Met. babbling, I know.
But it's just been sooo long since they've come out with an album.
It's so incredible to hear them making music that's this amazing.
You see, when St. Anger came out, I was ready for an album full of "I Disappear"'s and "No Leaf Clover." I just didn't see that album coming.
Death Magnetic is easily starting to sound like a combination of their early and later work, successfully combined together.
It's been five years. Here's to hoping it's a great year of album listening. :]

GOD, it feels good to be home.
Even if it's only for one night, I've dreadfully missed my house, my room, my horde of books, my anime, my video games, my fucking guitar, and having a full closet of clothes to chose from. Living out of a backpack is really...starting to aggravate me.
And hey, here's all my music!! Long time, no see.
I'll be done with Lucky Brand on Saturday. Parting is bittersweet but...this commute to the Peninsula is driving me fucking batshit! I need to be in my city when I need to be in my city!
Also...I am completely sun burnt on my face again! -____-; Rock The Bells was super awesome, otherwise. I haven't pulled an all-day-er in a while.
Who has been watching the Olympics? Michael Phelps is a fucking savage!!!

I haven't made an entry in a while. :O
Mexico was fabulous, thank-you. My dad, however, remains consistently macho and somewhat killed the trip for both Peter and I...but such is life, and I am used to it.
It was beautiful, though. We played in the sand at night, listening to the sounds of the dance music pumping out of Joe's Oyster Bar, and watched the castles lit up with neoplasmic colors. My cousins bought some iguanas and they were fantastic shades of green with long tails and sharp claws. They grow to be quite long, apparently....I would assume about 4ft (including the length of the tail).
It was hot, humid, and jungle-y. I drank coconuts a plenty, and enjoyed catching seashells and oyster shells and cool rocks.
It was good to go back. It was sad to see my grandpa's house in ruin, remembering how the last time I was in Sinoloa, he used to sit on that bench and almost in a meditative-like pose, look at the world around him. We also visited my grandma, who has now been gone for...fourteen years?
Now that I'm back in the Bay Area, I've been mainly working down near my grandmas. To pass time, I've been trying to practice guitar a lot, as well as saxophone. I bought some reeds for the first time in a long time. I also picked up a new distortion/overdrive/boost pedal from Gelb.
This weekend, I'm attending Rock The Bells. School is right around the corner.

It's been a while, ne?
I leave for Mexico in one week! It will be fantabulous. :]
Lately, I've had this sinking feeling that I've been unable to find any really good bands/musicians. I've been surrounded by rap music because of Peter and his friends, which I don't mind too much until we're watching MTV or something and we see these ads for these REALLY SHITTY rocky/emo bands. I then wonder what happened to all the decent music in popular culture (of course, there are popular bands that are decent...I'm probably not going to see them on the ever-so-shitty MTV, though).
Then, through the miracles of co-workers, someone said Rodrigo y Gabriela.
And then I was reminded of why I play guitar. It all made sense. Seeing Gabriela up there, hitting the shit out of her acoustic, really made me recollect all the times when I sat at my grandma's, being forced to play for a half an hour each day.
It will be fourteen years in September. I'd like to take a moment and thank Rodrigo y Gabriela for reminding me why I play, why I continue to write music, etc...
It's because I fucking love my guitar.

Putumayo Dragon Panda T-Shirt
Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring REPLICA
Vivienne Westwood Orb Necklace REPLICA
Some new shizz. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the replica VW jewelry, especially the armour ring. I ordered them from RoyalBearBear, and the quality is fantastic. The orb necklace is made a lot better than the other one I had before. XD
I also got a VW style cell phone strap but the pictures of that didn't come out well. ^^; I'm trying to encourage RBB to carry VW style sunglasses because I reallllllly want these or these but don't know if I'm willing to spend $150+ for a pair of sunglasses (actually the brown ones are $315 o_o), especially for ones I can't try on first.
Heather came home yesterday and she asked me if I wanted to move into the bigger room since she's not here often. The idea sounded a little weird to me at first because I'd be moving to the back of the house. BUT! Her room is a lot bigger than mine! There is a little nook in the corner, perfect for a sewing space! It's directly under a window so I could put my plants in my room in back of my sewing machine! I could also get a queen size bed and Peter and I could actually sleep for a change. XD; It's not set in stone yet, but it's starting to look like a possibility.
I've been really obsessed with crepes lately. There's a place in SF called Genki Crepes and they are so yummy. :) I want to go there everyday!
Have you guys been obsessed with any foods lately?

Therefore, when I feel like this, I force myself to create.

Firstly, I gotta apologize. You guys must be thinking "fuck, Mo's been posting a shitload of pictures lately, why doesn't she ever fucking LJ-cut?" My bad, all. You know I'm obsessed with art...at least I try and keep the images 400x400 though, right?
Holy good Jesus in a hat, I ordered some stuff from Putumayo! I actually did a shopping service. ^_^ I won't post pics until I get them so it will be more exciting for us all, mmmkay?
Lolita is always on my mind but lately, more-so than ever. I realized the other day that I do -not- have a ~DREAM DRESS~; occasionally, I will pick up some great shizz and go batshit over it for a good couple of months. The black AatP skirt is one such example of this. I wanted to wear it today exactly for casualness but I found out it's hellishly windy in MV. I wouldn't be wearing bloomers or socks...so, I had to take it off. In exchange for my inability to wear it today, I decided to keep the blouse on, in addition to the SS Tea Party replicas, and fuck...maybe I'll put a goddamn bow in my hair. ;) RORI AT ITS FINEST, I know.
It's nice not having a dream dress. There was that ONE dress from Meta (the kimono print JSK from a couple of years ago), but it's not like something I MUST HAVE. It might even be good enough for me to look at that one picture I have of that one girl wearing it and admire how cute she is. I don't think the damn thing would actually fit me; Meta is pretty big for my measurements and it might also be empire waisted...ugh, preggo look. Now that I think about it, there is some old stuff from Putu that I wish I had gotten years ago...dunno if I could find it now. Also don't know if that would make it worthy of the "dream" adjective.
I'm also really glad I'm not sweet lolita. There is no particular reason for this other than I think I'm saving a lot of money (but I'm really not...VM and MM are the big cash cows, methinks). Although! I must admit I saw a rather smashing AP JSK for sale on
egl_comm_sales which was purple/gray/black with shiny stuff and I was like OOO, but it was alas, too big. O_o;
Anywho, exciting things happening soon:
1) Lisa's wedding on Saturday at the Westin St. Francis in SF. W00t, dress-up time!
2) Working tomorrow because I need money...real bad.
3) Summer school is out in a week and I might have an A+ in my Women & Art class (omfg).
4) Mazatlan is only four weeks away. I need to tan more.
Anyway, have a good weekend, folks.

Angelica Kauffman's Hesitation Between Music and Painting.
This painting commemorates the point in Angelica's life where she had to chose between music and art. Appropriate to the Neoclassical time period, this piece references the story of Hercules where he had to chose between fame and luxury.
To chose between music and art, huh? This painting reminds me of entering college and having to chose between majoring in music and art. See how she's reaching to the open hand of the personification of art? It really reminds me of my decision to go with art history, even though music was still my first love.
I really love this painting.
